Surprisingly there were no memorials to modern day dictators. I think I meant to type in "despot island." Still, lots of stuff to look at and eat and stuff!

Awesome bar and restaurant for a nice quiet crowd. It's a little more sophisticated than the bars the average military guy visits but the prices are still cheap

Many shops around and the decoration during my visit was just awesome. (as it.s christmas) I did enjoy walking around if it.s not too windy.

Love The American Village in Okinawa. They have tons of shopping for everything from souvenirs to massages. Very festive atmosphere and clean property with tons of cabs waiting to take you to your next adventure!!!

Super elegant, central shopping and tourism area of the American village. Depot island is such a cool place to grab a bite or drink right on the sea. Hit some high end clothing and accessory shops, watch the sunset and enjoy the great lighting, colors, and architecture that makes this place like a shopping theme park. Many of the bars and restaurants are practically seaside and there is a great beach to enjoy the sun and water as well as a beautiful walking path right on the edge of the sea where you can observe the sea creatures in their natural habitat.

Blue seal icecream is the best

One of the few restaurants that open early, food is good (all Japanese food), coffee is very good, but we thought it was a little pricey for a breakfast for two ($35.00). Lots of stores and restaurants around and it's very close to beach.

Went shopping with my friend and had a light lunch at one of the restaurants in the area. Nice place with great ocean views.

American village is a cool hang out for all ages and something for everyone

A fun little store cramppacked with candies, cakes, alcohol, and even condoms. A little treat for adults. The staff was really nice too.

Stayed for a week, love the shops n all the places u can eat. Sit relax n watch all the people walking by like a fashion runway.

Nothing special here. The food is not so good and Americans are not treated very nice.

A truly odd place. I'm all for the military having a spot for r and r, but I don't understand why it needs to be so contrived.

It's called American Village but it's not really for Americans as most of the stores don't carry big sizes. It's more for the tourists to experience American style restaurants and food.

Nice esplanade by the bay with shops and restaurants.

The food was amazing.. The service was very kind and they have a different way to order the food.. You have to buy it from a vending machine, that will give you a ticket to get the food.. Just adorable

Depot Island "American Village" is an awesome location to find anything you need. It has been expanding out of control with new hotel like the Hilton and new shops, restaurants, cafés opening throughout. Don't forget to stop by Timeless Chocolate, it's delicious!
